Event related to the America's Cup - the world's foremost yacht race - to be held in Japan for the first time!
The Fukuoka regatta of the America's Cup World Series has been officially announced as taking place on November 18 and 19, 2016 in Fukuoka, Japan.
The America's Cup is the world's oldest sporting trophy, originating in a commemorative race at an international exposition held in England in 1851. As a challenger determined to win the Cup, Japan's challenger - “SoftBank Team Japan” - is training rigorously at its Bermuda base camp, where the America's Cup will be held next year.
The America's Cup World Series is a series of races held across the globe from 2015 that form the preliminary stage of the America's Cup. As points acquired in the World Series are reflected in the Louis Vuitton Cup (the series for determining the America's Cup challenger) to be held next year, excitement for this final leg of the tournament taking place in Fukuoka is undoubtedly reaching fever pitch. All teams that have put their names forward for the America's Cup, including the defending winner Oracle Team USA and its strongest rival Emirates Team New Zealand, are expected to assemble in Fukuoka.
Yamaha Motor has concluded an official partnership agreement with SoftBank Team Japan and will provide outboards for the chase boats required for races and training, pontoons where America’s Cup yachts moor, and motorcycles necessary for transportation around Bermuda.
The Fukuoka regatta is scheduled to be held in Hakata Bay. Come and experience firsthand speed-fueled battles that completely overturn the image of yacht racing and cheer on “SoftBank Team Japan” supported by Yamaha Motor.
