Launch of the New Soul GT 125cc Scooter Onto the Indonesian Market ~Platform model equipped with the BLUE CORE engine~
IWATA, March 4, 2015 – Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo:7272) will release its new 125cc scooter Soul GT – featuring a high-performance compact engine developed based on the next-generation development concept BLUE CORE – in Indonesia in March 2015.
The new Soul GT was developed with the concept "The No.1 Stand-out Scooter on the Streets", inheriting the same product direction as the current “Soul GT” model (115cc) originally released in 2012, which has been popular for its sharp and distinctive single headlight. Building on the current model, the new Soul GT is given further refinements to its design as well as an increase in engine displacement to 125cc. As a result, the new model blends proud visual presence with BLUE CORE engine's powerful performance and superior fuel economy. Manufacturing and sales are being undertaken by Indonesian group company PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing.
Main features include 1) quick acceleration up to top speed range, 2) a spacious on-board feel and spirited riding performance, 3) bold body design and wide tires to suit (Front: 80mm/Rear: 100mm), 4) uniquely edgy design, and being the first 125cc-class scooter from Yamaha Motor to feature an LED headlight.
The basic frame and engine of the new model uses the common platform which was first featured in the Mio125, launched in December 2014. In addition, this model is the third Indonesian model to feature the BLUE CORE engine after the Mio125 and NMAX. The new Soul GT is expected to help boost Yamaha Motor's platform strategy, and contribute to expanding sales in the Indonesian market.
